Blake Shelton, speaking backstage at the CMA Music Festival (June 8), has confirmed that he has been in the studio at work on a new Christmas album.
Two days earlier, Nashville session keyboardist Gordon Mote tweeted similar news:
"Had a great day working on a new @BlakeShelton Christmas album. He's pretty fantastic!"
Shelton responded with joking props to Mote:
"Y'all meet my hair stylist @GordonMote!!! Follow the man!!!"
This spring, Shelton, speaking with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, said he has a fondness for X-mas tunes:
"There's one on Anne Murray's Christmas album, 'Christmas in Killarney,' I don't even know where in the hell Killarney is, but it puts me in the d**n Christmas mood. I listen to that one a lot."
Shelton's last studio effort was 2011's Red River Blue; he's never recorded a Christmas record.
