Jeanne Tripplehorn has reportedly signed on to appear on CBS' "Criminal Minds" as a recurring character starting this fall. The former "Big Love" star will fill in the role left by Paget Brewster, who exited "Criminal Minds" this year after her seventh season.

Executive Producer Erica Messer has released a statement about Tripplehorn's character and says that she will shake things up on the crime procedural:

"We're thrilled to have Jeanne Tripplehorn join our team as a profiler," said Messer. "Her character will be introduced in the premiere. It's an exciting way to start season 8."

In addition to her critically acclaimed work on "Big Love," Tripplehorn also recently starred as Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy in HBO's original film "Grey Gardens."
