Elton John will release a new five album box set, The Classic Album Selection.
The albums were recorded during a four year period from 1970-1973 and include Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water, Honky Château and Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player.
The box set includes each original album in its entirety, but does not add any bonus tracks or previously unreleased recordings.
The Classic Album Selection, distributed on the Universal Music label, is due July 16. Before that release, Elton will issue the John vs. Pnau single "Good Morning to the Night" on July 2.
Australian duo Pnau are best known for their side-project album Empire Of The Sun. Elton signed the pair after hearing their record, and now with his blessing, a selection of his old masters will be re-imagined into an album featuring their recreations of his classic songs between 1970 and 1976.
