Foster the People frontman Mark Foster says that the band's next album will have classic rock influences.
Speaking with Billboard, the "Pumped Up Kicks" songwriter says that he will draw influence from the likes of the Kinks and the Clash for a sound with "more grit":
"I think there's going to be more grit, and I think it's gonna be extremely percussive. I've been listening to a lot of the Clash lately, and a lot of '60s, the Kinks. I think those bands are going to influence the next record heavily."
Foster also says that he plans to take some time off to travel and find inspiration before recording the next album. His travel plans include stops in Morocco, India, Turkey and Tunisia:
"I'm just going to stay on that side of the world and travel around in some weird cultures . . . and just vibe out."
