Smithfield Foods Inc. (SFD: Quote) reported fourth quarter adjusted EPS of $0.43 Thursday morning, which fell short of the consensus estimate of $0.53.
Smithfield Foods gapped open lower Thursday and fell in the first hour of trade. The stock finished down by 1.11 at $18.46 on the highest volume of the year and set an 8 1/2 month low.
