Microsoft Reportedly To Buy Yammer For More Than $1 Bln - Quick Facts

Business-software company Yammer Inc. agreed to sell itself to Software giant Microsoft Corp. (MSFT: Quote) for more than $1 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing person familiar with the matter.

It is unclear when the Yammer acquisition will be completed and announced, the report specified.

Bloomberg News earlier reported that Microsoft was in discussions to acquire Yammer.

San Francisco, California-based Yammer was founded in 2008 by David Sacks, the former chief operating officer of PayPal Inc. Yammer is used by more than 200,000 companies, including more than 80% of the Fortune 500.

Stocks have shown a notable move to the downside in early trading on Friday amid lingering concerns about the outlook for the Federal Reserve's asset purchase program. After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March. The popular e-mail management app Mailbox, developed by Orchestra Inc., has been updated to be compatible with Apple's iPad. Orchestra disclosed the news of the update through its official blog. "You asked, we listened. Mailbox is now available for iPad, so you can swipe your way to inbox zero on all your iOS devices," Orchestra's brief blog read.
