Sweden's unemployment rate decreased from last year in May, data released by the Public Employment Service showed Friday.
The unemployment rate declined to 4 percent in May from 4.1 percent April. Economists were looking for a jobless rate of 4.1 percent for the month.
The number of jobless persons in the country, meanwhile, rose to 187,494 at the end of May from 184,711 in the same month last year.
At the same time, 181,826 persons participated in programs with activity support during the month, higher than 169,548 recorded a year earlier.
