Hungary April Industrial Output Falls As Expected

6/15/2012 3:39 AM ET

Hungary's industrial production decreased as estimated earlier in April, final data released by the Central Statistical Office showed Friday.

Industrial production decreased 3.1 percent on an annual basis in April, in line with the preliminary estimates. The rate of growth was faster than the 1.6 percent decrease recorded in March.

This contraction was driven mainly by a drop in demand for communication equipment, consumer electronics and fuel products, data showed.

On a monthly basis, industrial output decreased a seasonally and working-day adjusted 2.4 percent in April, reversing the previous month's 0.6 percent gain. In January-April period, industrial production decreased 0.8 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier.
