Lochgilphead Primary School in Argyll, Scotland banned - and then subsequently unbanned - their pupil Martha Payne, 9, from blogging about her school lunches after her site garnered two million hits in two weeks.
Payne issued a "Goodbye" message on her blog, Martha NeverSeconds, on Thursday, June 14.
"This morning in maths I got taken out of class by my head teacher and taken to her office. I was told that I could not take any more photos of my school dinners because of a headline in a newspaper today."
Soon afterward, after a firestorm of outraged erupted on Twitter about the Argyll and Bute Council's decision to stifle her free speech, the council reversed its decision on BBC radio.
School officials said cafeteria staff became nervous for their livelihood after the blog began generating millions of hits. She rated the meals on taste, nutrition and even hair content. But, Payne's reviews were generally positive and featured the youth's take on various food items, including Jello.
"We don't get jelly often, maybe about twice in every 4 weeks, and I like to put it on my spoon and suck it through my teeth. It's so slippy it doesn't really make a noise so I don't upset my friends!"
The blog has helped raise nearly £2,000 for a charity called Mary's Meals since it began. It is unclear whether Martha will restart the blog after the council's decision.
