Adele's 21, continuing its tear on the Billboard 200, has joined Prince's Purple Rain and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack as albums to have 24 week stays at the number one spot. The jump in sales, 30% according to MTV News, has been attributed to her primetime special on NBC.
21, according to Nielsen SoundScan, sold 75,000 copies last week, beating out Thirty Miles West, Alan Jackson's latest, by roughly 2,000 copies.
The Beach Boys' comeback album, That's Why God Made the Radio, landed at number three (moving 61,000 units). Neil Young took the number four spot with Americana, his Crazy Horse collaboration of rocked out folk tunes (44,000). Rapper Big K.R.I.T.'s major-label debut, Live From the Underground, rounded out the top five (41,000).
21, after an impressive 68 weeks in the top ten, has sold over 9.3 million copies.
