Arkansas Best Corp. (ABFS: Quote) said Friday that it has closed on the purchase of Panther Expedited Services, Inc. from Fenway Partners LLC for about $180 million, adding that all of Panther's outstanding debt has been repaid.

The deal was announced yesterday.

The $100 million term loan arranged by U.S. Bank National Association for the deal has also been funded, Arkansas Best said.

After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.
