Fitch Affirms Travelers' Ratings; Outlook Stable

Fitch Ratings said Friday that it has affirmed its ratings on The Travelers Companies, Inc. (TRV: Quote), including the 'A+' Issuer Default Rating.

The Rating Outlooks are Stable.

Fitch said Travelers Companies' ratings continue to be founded on its strong competitive position, history of solid earnings and prudent capital management.

A heavy catastrophe year in 2011 challenged Travelers Companies' earnings, Fitch note and added that it continues to monitor the company's investment concentration in municipal bonds.

After failing to sustain an early upward move, stocks have shown a lack of direction over the course of morning trading on Tuesday.
