The Chief of United Nations observer mission in Syria announced that the organization has suspended its activities in the country due to an intensification of armed violence over the past ten days. The Chief also noted that the suspension will be reviewed on a daily basis.
"United Nations observers will not be conducting patrols and will stay in their locations until further notice, and the engagement with the parties will be restricted", said General Robert Mood, head of the UN Supervision Mission, in a statement.
