Katy Perry surprised a crowd of fans at a special screening of her movie, Katy Perry: Part Of Me, at The Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The "California Gurls" singer, who wore a red floral dress with an open back, arrived inside the theater just as the lights were going dim right before the viewing.
Perry told the crowd, "You guys are all so cute, even all the way to the back," an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
"Little girls rushed the screen as Katy walked around slapping hands and greeting fans," the source says. "She managed to sign some autographs and pose for a few pictures before trying to disperse the massive crowd that had gathered around her."
The start of the film was delayed about 10 to 15 minutes due to the amount of screams coming from the crowd before she sat down.
