Eagles legend Joe Walsh has thrown his weight behind Illinois congressional candidate Tammy Duckworth. Duckworth is running against a Republican incumbent who shares Walsh's name.
The rock legend has returned to the state he once lived in as a child to help raise money and awareness for Duckworth, who is an Iraq war veteran.
"[She is] the real thing. I'm frustrated with Congress in that they're not getting very much done and I'm frustrated to the point where I think people should start paying attention to who's in Congress," he told reporters of the decision to back Duckworth over the man with whom he shares a name.
A rep from Walsh's campaign says he has no need for the support of his more famous counterpart:
"Is anyone really surprised when Tammy gets support from the liberal entertainment industry? Tammy can have the support of the 'Hotel California' liberal elite, Congressman Walsh is more concerned with getting the support of hard working families from the 8th district."
