A demo tape for My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, recorded in 1981 by David Byrne and Brian Eno has surfaced on the web. A blogger at My Wall of Tapes says that they were obtained while staying at Byrne's New York home in 1981.

The blogger elaborated on the circumstances in which he obtained the demos:

". . . when i was going through the thousands of cassettes i recorded in my active tapeing years i found this. It is a pre release version of David Byrne's first solo album, which was given me by David, when i stayed at his place in alphabet city, in 1981."

The tracks, a mix of ambient noise, hip-hop sampling and world rhythms, are accompanied by Byrne reading passages of the Quran. The track list on the demo version varies slightly from the released product.
