Tool drummer Danny Carey has confirmed that the band has roughly five new tunes ready for a new album.

According to a new report from MetalInsider.com, the details were unveiled during a Q&A session at his Danny Carey School of Rock in Lost Angeles earlier this month.

Carey appeared at the school for an impromptu performance of a few Tool songs and some Led Zeppelin covers before taking questions about his career.

When asked about a new Tool release, he said the band has "the framework of at least five good songs." He added that the group will finish recording by the end of 2012.

"I'm hoping we'll get in the studio by June or July and start tracking . . . The tracking part I'd say [takes] two to three months then probably a month to mix and master and that's it," Carey previously noted of the recording timetable.
