Disney and Pixar have released a new trailer for their upcoming film "Monsters University." The film will be the latest installment in the "Monsters" franchise, and will serve as a prequel to 2001's "Monsters Inc." The newest edition will once again feature the voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman in the lead roles of monsters Mike and Sulley.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the film follows the early day of Mike and Sulley's friendship when they first meet as college roommates.
Director Dan Scanlon explains that his characters fit easily into the role of college kids:
"This is about showing youthful exuberance and fun. Just Mike and Sully being wild and young feels right."
The film's development wasn't so simple, however, as Scanlon and many of his staff attended art college and never had the classic college experiences:
"We actually had to do some research and ask ourselves, 'What are the fun, classic groups and truisms of college?'" he said.
The film is set for release on June 21, 2013.
