The Labor Department is due to release its claims report for the week ended June 16th at 8:30 am ET. Economists expect claims to edge down to 383,000 in the recent reporting week from 386,000 in the previous week.
The US dollar showed mixed performance against its major rivals ahead of the report. While the greenback edged higher against the yen, it held steady against the rest of majors. As of 8:25 am ET, the dollar was trading at 80.10 against the yen, 1.57 versus the pound, 1.2672 against the euro and 0.9480 against the Swiss franc.
