Keri Hilson stopped by CNN on Tuesday, June 19 to promote the youth activity organizations DoSomething.org and Bing's Summer of Doing. Hilson appeared on the cable news network alongside a young lady to encourage kids to get involved.
On the program, Hilson said that her affinity for charitable works comes from her mother:
"My mother was very integral in making sure that we understood the importance of giving back in our community. In Decatur, we would feed the homeless many, many, many Saturdays. We had to wake up during the ungodly hours and pack their lunches in brown paper bags."
She added that charity work "gives your life a purpose."
Hilson is still working on her third studio album and is also gearing up to appear in the sequel to The Chronicles Of Riddick, which co-stars Vin Diesel.
