Carrie Underwood Gets Homesick On Tour

Carrie Underwood says that being on tour for a hit album has its downside. Being away from home for such long stretches of time leaves the country star feeling a strong case of homesickness.

"I miss my family," Carrie told U.K. newspaper, The Sun. "I don't get to see them as much."

Underwood says that she is only able to do it because her family and friends are behind her every step of the way.

"Fortunately they're very understanding," Underwood explained. "I talk to my mom every day, and we keep in touch in other ways, and she comes and sees me whenever she can, but I do miss being at home."

The former American Idol champ also says that she keeps on pushing because that's what her idols always did.

"People like Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride . . . all these people that have managed to balance being a wife, being a mother, being an awesome person. Being a strong woman and living this crazy life as a musician. I do feel fortunate that there's a lot of strong women I can look up to."

Underwood is currently on tour in support of her latest album Blown Away.
