Adele used to have a serious alcohol problem, alleges a new biography on the UK soul singer. According to In Touch Weekly (Via Huffington Post), author Marc Shapiro's Adele: The Biography reveals that the singer's drinking problem was much worse than people realized and was primarily brought on by her estranged father.
"Midway through her first tour, she allegedly had a drinking problem," the author told In Touch Weekly. "Adele would drink more than normal to salve the heartbreak."
Adele offered this insight into her alleged problem in an interview with Shapiro: "I got so drunk by the time I went on at 2 a.m. I had forgotten the words to my own songs ... . It was the worst thing ever."
The 24-year-old songstress reportedly gave up drinking following her vocal cord surgery 2011 in order to regain her health.
