METRO Names François Thibault SVP, CFO

METRO INC. (MRU_SV_A.TO: Quote,MRU_A.TO: Quote) said it has named François Thibault as Senior Vice-president and Chief Financial Officer, effective August 1, 2012.

The company noted that Thibault would lead all of the company's financial management and reporting functions, as well as treasury and investor relations, legal affairs, strategic planning and corporate development.

Since 1999, Thibault has held various strategic positions with Bombardier and served as vice-president, Finance of Bombardier Aerospace since 2009. Previously, he held senior financial positions with companies in the printing and telecommunications industries, Metro added.

U.S. Durable Goods Orders Rise 3.3% In April, More Than Expected

After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.
