Los Angeles-based Square-H Brands Inc. is recalling about 1,350 pounds of a ground smoked bacon product as it may contain pieces of cardboard and plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
The product subject to recall is: 25-lb. cases of "Coarse Ground Smoked Bacon Ends and Pieces". The product was packaged on April 25, 2012 and was distributed to an establishment in Hawaii for further distribution and use in other products. The cases bear an establishment number "EST. 748" and has a code "1410070".
The problem was discovered by FSIS in-plant personnel at the Hawaii establishment. The problem likely occurred during the transfer of the product from a cardboard and plastic holding container to the grinder.
The FSIS and the company have not received reports of injury due to consumption of this product.
