D'Angelo is making his coming at this years' BET Awards, his first televised performance in over a decade. The reclusive singer, who made his surprise return to the stage at this years' Bonnaroo Festival, will take the stage at the 12th annual show, airing live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on July 1.
"Usually, we love to keep surprises . . . but this year we want EVERYONE watching when D'Angelo takes the stage at the BET Awards!" stated Stephen G. Hill, BET's President of Music Programming and Specials. "His talents have been away from us for far too long and we're excited and honored that he's decided to make his American re-entry at this year's BET Awards."
The BET Awards '12 will also include performances by Usher, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, G.O.O.D. Music featuring Big Sean and Pusha T, Maybach Music's Rick Ross, Meek Mill, and Wale, and a star-studded tribute to Whitney Houston featuring her mother Cissy Houston.
