Turkey Tourist Arrivals Decline For Fourth Month

Tourist Arrivals in Turkey decreased for the fourth consecutive month in May, though at a slower pace, preliminary data released by the Ministry of Tourism showed Monday.

The number of tourists visiting the country decreased 1.53 percent to around 3.23 million in May. The rate of decline, however, was slower than the 5.33 percent fall seen in April. Of the total, 7.33 percent of the tourists were excursionists, the agency said.

Arrivals from France decreased 26.6 percent annually during the month, while the number of Germany tourists advanced 12.13 percent.

In the January-May period, approximately 8.84 million tourists visited Turkey, down 4.38 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. As munch as 4.09 percent of the visitors were excursionists, data showed.
