Confidence among South Korean consumers fell to its weakest level in three months in June as deepening global gloom, mainly due to continuing crisis in Europe, damped household's future economic expectations.
The consumer confidence index fell to 101 in June from 105 in May and 104 in April. The indicator reflecting consumers' assessment on the current living standards fell by two points to 88, and that concerning the outlook fell by four points to 95.
Consumer sentiment regarding current domestic economic conditions dropped by seven points to 74. South Koreans' expectations about the country's economic situations in the coming months fell by 12 points to 81.
The indicator of prospective spending decisions was three points lower at 106. At the same time, sentiment concerning the outlook for price movements, and that regarding expected inflation remained
unchanged at 137 and 3.7 percent, respectively.
