Italy's retail sales decreased more than economists expected In April, data released by statistical office Istat showed Tuesday.
Retail sales volume decreased a seasonally adjusted 1.6 percent month-on-month in April, faster than the 0.6 percent decrease economists expected.
Sales of both food products and non-food products decreased 1.5 percent each during the month, compared to March.
On an annual basis, non-adjusted retail sales fell by 6.8 percent in April, sharply quicker than the 0.1 percent decline economists forecast.
In the three months ended April, on average retail sales increased 0.2 percent compared to the preceding three months, the agency said.
