Hourly wages of Italian employees increased at a steady pace in May, data released by statistical office Istat showed Tuesday.
The index of hourly contractual wages increased 1.4 percent on an annual basis in May, unchanged from the growth rate seen in the previous month.
Earnings of agricultural workers remained unchanged year-on-year during the month, while wages in the industrial sector rose 2.3 percent. Hourly wages in the service sector advanced 1.6 percent annually during the month, while earnings in public administration remained flat.
Compared to April, hourly wages remained unchanged in May, after rising 0.3 percent in the previous month, the agency said.
