Billy Ray Cyrus will join the cast of Chicago on Broadway from November 5 to December 23. In his Broadway debut, Cyrus stars in the role of Billy Flynn, a slick lawyer.
Speaking with USA Today, Cyrus said he saw a performance of the Tony-winning stage show last year and was impressed by actor John O'Hurley's portrayal of the character:
"His performance was so brilliant and I fell in love with this character. He's got a lot of heart and soul, but he's got an agenda, too. I like that contradiction."
Cyrus added that, in addition to O'Hurley's portrayal, he'll also take notes from the film adaptation, which starred Richard Gere in the Flynn role:
"I'm probably going to borrow from both performances -- but make it my own, as they say in this business."
