Alec Baldwin will star in the upcoming Broadway production of "Orphans," a tale about three orphaned brothers living in North Philadelphia. The trio's lives take an unexpected turn when they kidnap an older, wealthy man, Harold—Baldwin's character.
"I have dreamed, for a long time, of doing this play with this director," Baldwin said in a statement that was put out with the announcement. "It's an honor to work with Dan Sullivan in Lyle Kessler's 'Orphans'."
It is the first time the production will come to Broadway, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It premiered in 1983 at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles.
Baldwin's last trip to Broadway was in 2006, when he starred in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Joe Orton's "Entertaining Mr. Sloane."
His commitment to NBC's "30 Rock" ends in its upcoming seventh season.
