New York & Co. Inc. [NWY] Thursday announced appointment of Laura Weil as its chief operating officer and executive vice president, effective immediately.

Prior to joining New York & Company, Weil was CEO of Ashley Stewart, and also served as CEO and senior executive vice president of Ann Taylor Corp.

Weil will continue to report to Greg Scott, CEO, and lead the company's planning & allocation, sourcing, product life management, real estate, and information technology areas.
