Japanese automobile production expanded sharply in May, according to Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association.
Auto production surged 59.5 percent from a year ago to 781,340 units, the association reported Friday. Domestic sales marked an annual growth of 66.4 percent and exports advanced 91.2 percent.
At the same time, total value of automobiles exported for May was $12.81 billion, up 89.6 percent from a year ago.
On the other hand, motorcycle production fell 22.2 percent annually to 41,334 units in May. While domestic sales logged a slight 0.2 percent increase, exports were down 13.5 percent.
