European Economics Preview: Eurozone Flash Inflation Data Due

Flash inflation from Eurozone and retail sales from Germany are the major statistical reports due on Friday.

At 1.30 am ET, the French final GDP data is due from the statistical office Insee. According to previous estimate, gross domestic product remained flat in the first quarter.

Half an hour later, Destatis is set to release German retail sales figures. On a monthly basis, retail sales are forecast to grow 0.2 percent month-on-month, following a 0.2 percent fall in April.

The French statistical office is slated to publish consumer spending and producer price figures at 2.45 am ET. Economists expect producer prices to fall 0.5 percent month-on-month in May, after easing 0.1 percent in April. At the same time, consumer spending is forecast to remain flat.

Hungary's producer prices and Turkish trade balance are due at 3.00 am ET. Hungary's producer price inflation is seen at 7 percent, down from 7.1 percent in April.

At 4.00 am ET, the European Central Bank is scheduled to release M3 money supply data for May. On a yearly basis, M3 growth is seen slowing to 2.3 percent from 2.5 percent in April.

In the meantime, Norway's retail sales data is due. After falling 0.1 percent month-on-month in April, retail sales are forecast to grow 0.5 percent in May.

Eurozone flash inflation data is due at 5.00 am ET. Annual inflation is forecast to remain unchanged at 2.4 percent in June.

In Brussels, EU leaders have approved a 120 billion-euro package to promote growth in the debt-stricken eurozone as well as across the broader 27-nation European Union. Also, members agreed to allow bailout fund to recapitalize banks directly.
