Retail sales in Estonia increased from last year in May, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Friday.
Retail sales increased 8 percent on an annual basis in May. Sales of manufactured goods advanced 8 percent annually, while sales of pharmaceutical goods and cosmetics increased 13 percent, mainly reflecting the lower reference base of the previous year.
In non-specialized stores selling predominantly industrial goods and stores selling textiles, clothing and footwear, sales increased 12 percent year-on-year during the month .
On a monthly basis, seasonally adjusted retail sales remained unchanged in May. On an unadjusted basis, sales moved up 7 percent during the month. In the January-May period, retail sales in trade enterprises increased 9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, data showed.
