Spain's current account deficit decreased from last year in April, helped mainly by a reduction in the shortfall in foreign trade account, data released by the central bank showed Friday.
The deficit in the current account dropped to EUR1.679 billion in April from EUR2.975 billion a year earlier.
The merchandise trade account showed a deficit of EUR2.894 billion in April, lower than the EUR3.410 billion deficit recorded a year earlier. The services account, meanwhile, showed a surplus of EUR2.828 billion, up from last year's surplus of EUR2.326 billion.
The deficit in the income account dropped slightly to EUR1.305 billion in April from EUR1.358 billion last year, while the current transfers deficit decreased to EUR306.8 million from EUR532.4 million, data showed.
