Savannah Guthrie replaced Ann Curry in the co-host chair next to Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Friday, June 28. NBC did not officially introduce her as a permanent host, leaving the question of how long she will occupy the spot open.
Guthrie sat beside Lauer, discussing stories about the Colorado wildfires and fallout from the Supreme Court's ruling supporting President Obama's health-care plan. Later she made Fourth of July party decorations and danced to a Maroon 5 concert.
Former co-host Curry had a tearful farewell on the previous day, but NBC has confirmed that she will remain at the network in an as yet undefined reporting capacity.
During Curry's tenure, "Today," the long-running leader in morning news programmer, slipped, as "Good Morning America" pulled into a near tie for the one spot.
