Yen Extends Downtrend Against Majors

The Japanese yen extended its previous session's downward trading against major currencies during New York mid-day deals on Friday.

The yen declined to new multi-day lows of 79.99 against the US dollar, 101.42 versus the euro, 84.45 against the Swiss franc, 125.47 versus the British pound and 78.45 against the Canadian dollar at around 11:25 am ET, which may be compared to yesterday's close of 79.46, 98.89, 82.35, 123.33 and 76.92, respectively.

Against the Australian and New Zealand dollars, the Japanese currency also traded further lower in today's mid-morning trading. At 11:20 am ET, the yen dropped to fresh multi-week lows of 64.25 against the kiwi and 81.92 versus the Aussie from Thursday's close of 62.66 and 79.83, respectively.

Currently, the yen is trading near 79.87 against the greenback, 101.25 versus the euro, 84.29 against the franc, 125.31 versus the sterling, 78.37 against the loonie, 64.11 versus the kiwi and 81.78 against the Aussie.
