Monmouth Real Estate Investment Corp. (MNR: Quote) Friday announced appointment of Kevin Miller as its chief financial officer, effective July 2. Anna Chew, who had been serving as the company's interim CFO, will continue to serve as the company's treasurer.

Miller is currently chief accounting officer of the company and will continue his role, in addition to his new responsibilities. Prior to joining Manmouth, Miller served as assistant controller and assistant vice-president of Forest City Ratner Companies.

A negative reaction to the Federal Reserve's monetary policy announcement weighed on the markets in afternoon trading. The major averages saw some volatility following the announcement from the Fed, closing firmly in the red.
