Advanced Photonix Q4 Loss Widens

Advanced Photonix Inc. (API: Quote) Friday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $1.1 million or $0.03 per share, compared to $563 thousand or $0.02 per share in the same quarter last year. The loss widened due mainly to lower revenues. Adjusted loss for the quarter was $654 thousand or $0.02 per share, compared to a profit of $221 thousand or $0.01 per share last year.

Fourth-quarter revenues dropped 17 percent to $6.5 million from $7.9 million last year.

Stocks have shown a notable move to the downside in early trading on Friday amid lingering concerns about the outlook for the Federal Reserve's asset purchase program. After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March. The popular e-mail management app Mailbox, developed by Orchestra Inc., has been updated to be compatible with Apple's iPad. Orchestra disclosed the news of the update through its official blog. "You asked, we listened. Mailbox is now available for iPad, so you can swipe your way to inbox zero on all your iOS devices," Orchestra's brief blog read.
