The Flaming Lips have successfully beat out Jay-Z's world record during the 0 Music Awards performances this past week.
The band performed in eight cities in the Mississippi Delta on Thursday over the course of 24 hours. But unlike Jay-Z, the band traveled by bus, whereas the rapper went by private jet.
"Achieving this record-breaking musical journey has been exhausting and exhilarating at the same time," said Van Toffler, president of the Music and Logo Group. "Wayne, the Lips, all the musicians and fans that greeted us along the Delta and a sweaty tired crew made for some choice moments on this trek. Now it's time for all of us to take a long hot shower."
As Wayne Coyne and company went about their challenge, Viacom's O Music Awards documented the entire journey by livestreaming it. While fans followed the band, they could interact and influence activities on the bus through social media outlets and could switch between the three camera views of the bus, stage and production truck.
The O Music Awards, which celebrate the world of digital music, recently gave out accolades to Selena Gomez, Karmin, MNDR, Tokio Hotel, and Adam Lambert for different categories.
