Despite rumors that a "Big Lebowski" sequel is in the works, it is not. CBS Los Angeles picked up a phony story from SuperOfficialNews.com saying that several actors from the original had signed on for "The Big Lebowski 2."
That report, which said that Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, John Turturro, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore had inked deals for the sequel, was one of the site's hilarious jokes. The report also said that Bill Murray had been cast in the role of the evil villain, Bavarian Illuminati.
In 2011, Tara Reid, who starred in the original, claimed that she was prepping for the sequel, which prompted a scoff from producer Ethan Coen:
"I'm glad she's working on it . . . we don't [have plans for it] but we'll watch it when it comes out."
