Mariah Carey, Monica, Cissy Houston and Brandy were all on hand on Sunday night (July 1) to honor the late Whitney Houston. Carey introduced the tribute segment during the awards show, offering words of praise for Houston:

"She was real and kept it real, and that's why we got along so well. If you really knew Whitney, you couldn't help but love her."

"I miss my friend, and I miss hearing her voice and laughter, but we'll always have the music," she added.

Monica then took the stage to perform the Houston track "I Love the Lord" from The Preacher's Wife. She was followed by Brandy who performed a medley of the Houston hits "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)."

Cissy and brother Gary followed with a rendition of "Like a Bridge over Water."
