Retail sales in Romania increased from the previous month in May, data released by the National Institute of statistics showed Tuesday.
Retail sales volume, excluding vehicles and motorcycles, increased a seasonally adjusted 1.2 percent on a monthly basis in May. Sales of food products rose 1 percent sequentially, while trade in automotive fuel at specialized stores advanced 1.2 percent during the month.
Year-on-year, the volume turnover of retail sales advanced a non-adjusted 5.9 percent in May. In the five months ended May, sales moved up 4.1 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier, data showed.
