Mylan Inc. (MYL: Quote) said its subsidiary Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. has launched Desloratadine Tablets, 5 mg, the generic version of Schering-Plough's Clarinex allergy medication.

Earlier, Mylan obtained final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, for its Abbreviated New Drug Application for Desloratadine Tablets, 5 mg, and is shipping this product immediately.

According to IMS Health, Desloratadine Tablets, 5 mg, had U.S. sales of around $194.6 million for the 12 months ending March 31, 2012.

The company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, also came in above analysts' expectations as did its quarterly sales.
