Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston, was booked for a stay in the Beverly Hilton, the hotel in which her daughter died in February, for her stay in Los Angeles for the BET Awards.
TMZ reported that Cissy was unwittingly booked to the hotel. A source for the site said that she would eventually like to visit the room where Whitney died, but that it was too soon to do so. She was later moved to the Regent Beverly Wilshire.
The BET Awards included a tribute to Whitney from Cissy, who sang "Like a Bridge over Troubled Water," and other songs with guests including Mariah Carey, Monica and Brandy.
Carey said a few words in honor of Whitney after which Monica took the stage to perform the Houston track "I Love the Lord" from The Preacher's Wife. She was followed by Brandy who performed a medley of the Houston hits "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)."
