Mel Gibson has reportedly been slapped with a restraining order by his 78-year-old stepmother Teddy Gibson. The woman married Mel's father John Gibson in 2001 and they are now in the midst of a bitter divorce proceeding.
According to court documents Mel became violent towards her after she questioned his choice of treatments for John, who is 93. She says that Mel became violent and verbally assaulted her in the incident.
"Mel has sunken to new lows over the last year by committing several acts of domestic violence against his 78-year-old stepmother," the court papers state.
She also released an official statement about the divorce saying: "[I have] a lot of questions about (John Gibson's) filing of divorce against me, and [I] need to speak directly to my husband without Mel's interference so that I can make sure both he is OK and not being manipulated by Mel or into a course of action he does not wish to take."
