The 18th Annual Essence Music Festival has come to a close, and what better way to go out than with performances by the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and the legendary Chaka Khan.
Franklin, who has previously taken the Essence Fest stage in 1995 and 2005, performed 13 songs over 90 minutes, wowing the crowd with a number of her signature tracks like "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman," "Think," "The House That Jack Built" and "I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You)."
Midway through the Queen's concert a ceremony was held in which Franklin received a number of awards; she then returned to the stage and ended her set with "Respect."
Khan hit the stage around 1 AM, playing to a dwindling crowd as Franklin's performance ran long. She rounded out the Essence Festival with a set that included "I Feel for You," "Sweet Thing," "I'm Every Woman" and "Tell Me Something Good."
