Employment in German manufacturing sector increased in May, data from the Federal Statistical Office showed Monday.
The number of workers in the sector rose 2.8 percent year-on-year to 5.2 million in May. Notable employment growth was reported in manufacture of metal products, production of vehicles and vehicle parts as well as in engineering.
At the same time, the number of hours worked decreased 6.5 percent from a year earlier. Total earnings increased 7.3 percent annually.
