Penns Woods Bancorp, Inc. (PWOD: Quote), the holding company of Jersey Shore State Bank, reported second-quarter net income of $3.40 million or $0.89 per share, compared to $2.96 million or $0.78 per share in the year-ago quarter.

Adjusted net income, excluding net securities gains and losses, increased to $3.29 million or $0.86 per share from $2.96 million or $0.77 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Net interest income increased 11.3 percent to $7.7 million from $6.9 million in the previous year period, while total non-interest income for the quarter rose 21.8 percent to $2.3 million from $1.9 million last year.
